Our History
 | How Victory Christian Centre got started Listen to Pastor Stefan Schlogl and Pastor Vanessa Schlogl's testimony and discover who they are, where they have come from and where we are heading. You will get to hear the heart behind the vision of everything we do here at Victory and hopefully you will ‘find where you fit’ in this ‘God-story’ that is unfolding. |
The Story began
Pastor Stefan Schlogl was born and raised on a farm in upper Austria; he trained as a chef and began to travel the world, coming to New Zealand in 1979. Two years later he met Vanessa and was born again. Vanessa was born and raised in Devonport, Auckland. At the age of 20 she went on a working holiday to Europe. In 1979 while in Scotland her auntie led her to the Lord. She returned to New Zealand 18 months later. Stefan and her met while working at the Chateau hotel; they travelled around New Zealand together working in the THC government hotels. It was in Wanaka that they began to attend church and were married a short time after this.
From the time they were married they sensed a strong desire to serve the Lord as pastors. From Wanaka, God lead them to Wellington; 2 years later they became members of a ‘Word of Faith’ church and attended their Bible School taught by Rhema graduates in 1985-86. At that time God impressed upon their hearts to start a church in Hutt city. After much prayer, Victory Christian Centre was started in January of 1989. In 1990 they were officially ordained by Pastor Ron Halverson of Bethel Christian Centre in California.
Since then VCC has been on an incredible journey; from humble beginnings with 6 families (4 are still here, 1 moved to Australia); to a church that has grown to touch the lives of many, both locally and overseas through the thousands of dollars given to missions.
The Church we see on the horizon
…is a large influential church committed to raise up a purpose-filled leadership generation, whose focus is the end-time harvest and who impact the world for Jesus Christ. Our goal is to influence every sphere of our society – families, play groups, schools, work places, the business world, the youth and music world, media, local council and government.
